Ubisoft suffered record financial losses and prepared for another year of losses

The French company Ubisoft has published financial results for the 2025-2026 financial year. The company's revenue amounted to 1.53 billion euros, down 17% compared to the previous year.In the fourth quarter, the drop reached 54% compared to the same period a year earlier, which included the release of Assassin's Creed Shadows.

The publisher's chief executive, Yves Guillemot, called the last two years "disappointing in terms of short-term financial performance" and said the company was undergoing one of the biggest transformations in its history. As part of the restructuring, Ubisoft has already canceled seven projects and postponed six more. The company also closed studios in Halifax and Stockholm, and made cuts at Massive Entertainment and Red Storm Entertainment.

As a result of all these changes and cancellations, the company suffered a record operating loss of 1.3 billion euros.Management also prepared for another year of losses, while the workforce was reduced by a thousand people.

Ubisoft is hoping to get back on track with the releases of Assassin's Creed Hexe, Far Cry 7 and the new Ghost Recon. These games will begin to be released only from the next financial year, which begins in April 2027.However, investors were skeptical about the plan. After the report was published, shares fell 16%.

During the transition period, the company will rely on promoting already released games, as well as the remake of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and the service shooter Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege.Ubisoft representatives did not specify whether the transformation will lead to new layoffs and studio closures.
