A $1,000 PS6 could scare up nearly 40% of buyers.

If Sony and Microsoft actually release the PS6 and Xbox Project Helix in 2028 for $1,000, sales of new consoles in the first five years could be up to 38% lower than for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in the same period, according to analytics agency Ampere Analysis.

Analysts estimate that the high price will not only affect iron sales, but that by 2031, the cost of gaming and Xbox ecosystem services could be $3.4 billion lower than the $700 console price.

To avoid the conventional thousand-dollar console, Ampere offers three options: delay a new generation, subsidise iron more heavily, and use new monetization models, or bet on a more unusual concept of the device instead of a banal increase in graphic power. #game
