🦑 A small paleontological offtopic. It turns out that Krakens really existed. An article appeared in the scientific journal Science in which the authors prove this.During the Cretaceous period (from 145 to 66 million years ago) there lived giant octopuses that could reach sizes of up to 19 m in length.Of course, no one has found 19-meter fossils of the entire Kraken. The size was calculated from the size of the jaws found.Experts examined 15 octopus fossils previously found in what is now Japan and on Canada's Vancouver Island. They also found 12 more ancient octopus jaws in Japan. It turned out that the species Nanaimoteuthis haggarti reached 7–19 m, which made it one of the largest species of all organisms in the oceans of the Cretaceous period.Mesosaurs of that time were approximately 17 m in length.Davy Jones was lucky enough to tame just such a beast. #game
