Beyond Good & Evil 2 is still in pre-production according to origami insiders
The reason for this is that the game's development has been restarted several times because of a lack of clear vision. So, first it was a four-player cooperative action, then it was a two-player cooperative action, and now it's being developed as a standalone project.
In its current state, Beyond Good & Evil 2 is described as the Legend of Zelda space combat from Marvel's Spider-Man. About 250 people work on the project, and the technologies they create are ahead of the industry.
The announcement of the game, if anything, took place on May 28, 2008.
