The minions did not officially work for Hitler.Fan theories have become so popular that the characters' creator, Pierre Coffin, had to comment to the Telegraph:

“I knew everyone would ask whether the minions worked for Hitler.So I immediately solved this problem with an ice cave.It was purely my idea.We didn’t even have to have a meeting.”

However, given that the minions in the new cartoon left the cave in the 1920s, fans still have questions for Coffin. #game
