Gabe Newell is financing the construction of the research vessel RV11000 at a cost of approximately $815 million.

The 162-meter-long ship will be able to accommodate up to 130 scientists and crew members, operate at depths of up to 11,000 meters and support deep-sea vehicles, robots, sample collection and ocean floor mapping.

The vessel is being built by Norway's VARD for Inkfish, Newell's marine research organization.The RV11000 is planned to be put into operation in 2030. #game
