Jim Ryan's strategy is bearing fruit: in 2026, Sony will release more service games than single-player games on PlayStation 5
In May 2022, Sony informed investors of serious investments in the creation of new service games for the PlayStation 5. Presentation slides published then showed that by fiscal year 2025, 55% of PlayStation Studios' production budget would be spent on development and support of services, and the remaining 45% on traditional single-player content for the brand.
Three years later, we can see the results of Jim Ryan’s strategy outlined then - even despite the failure of Concord, Sony continues to try to gain a foothold in the services field.
