Naoki Yoshida explained why a remake of Final Fantasy VI still looks unlikely - according to him, the game is so large-scale that the project would be even larger than the trilogy of Final Fantasy VII remakes.

During the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival in Berlin, Naoki Hamaguchi revealed that it was Final Fantasy VI that inspired him to enter the gaming industry. At the same time, he once again emphasized that he is not working on its remake, despite rumors.

Yoshida noted that he understands fans' desire to see an updated version of the game, but its scale is so large that a remake would most likely have to be released in four or even five parts.According to him, this also applies to Final Fantasy VIII and Final Fantasy IX.
