New goldmine: Hollywood is now obsessed with video game adaptations
Hollywood is increasingly interested in video game adaptations and moving away from superheroics.Mattson Tomlin, co-writer of the 2022 Batman sequel, spoke about this while answering questions from fans about the development status of the Mega Man movie he was working on.
As it turned out, after preparing several draft versions of the script, Tomlin dropped out of the team of creators of the Mega Man adaptation and was not aware of the further fate of the project.
However, he knows that Hollywood's interest in producing video game adaptations has increased significantly recently.Producers of films and TV series saw a real gold mine in the gaming industry.
"Hollywood is kind of moving from an obsession with comic books to an obsession with video games, so I wouldn't be surprised if a Mega Man project eventually sees the light of day in some form."
Currently, Hollywood studios are preparing a lot of film adaptations of games, including films based on The Legend of Zelda, Death Stranding, Elden Ring, Call of Duty, Ghost of Tsushima, the sequel “Minecraft at the Movies” and “Sonic 4 at the Movies”.A modern film adaptation of Resident Evil from Zach Cregger (“Guns”) will be released on September 18th.
