Sean Leiden calls the future without PlayStation discs depressing, but there's hope for third-party manufacturers.
The same Microsoft is actively connecting third-party companies to print physical copies, but there's one problem Sony owns all the Blu-Ray technology that is now making the discs.
And if certain licensing agreements aren't changed by 2028, Sony could completely liquidate the resale market.
Leiden believes that the industry is slowly moving toward an accessibility model where players don't own their games, but only buy licenses for them.
Recently, Sony has actually confirmed in court that a digital copy does not mean that the user owns it to the fullest.
