Sony, according to media reports, is returning the bulk of the $508 million in US customs duties that it previously deemed illegal.
Sony's chief financial officer Lin Tao said the majority of the return will go to PlayStation, which received about 70% of the company's revenue in April/June 2026.
Sony has not yet announced plans to pay off PS5 buyers who have purchased the PS5 at an increased price, and a class action lawsuit has been filed against the company in the U.S. The plaintiffs believe that some of the money should be returned to consumers.
