Spider-Noir is an optional but still solid series

For almost 20 years, fans have been demanding a film about a noir spider. There were similar conversations in 2009, when the character debuted in the comic. And in 2010 - already more actively - when the noir Spider-Man became one of the heroes of the game Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions.Well, it became really loud after the appearance of Noir in the cartoon Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in 2018.

We got a film adaptation, and even with Nicolas Cage in the role of Spider. And here they allowed him to be crazy and absurd, grimace and make faces in every possible way, fanaticize and generally be Nicolas Cage, which is simply magical - there are several literally Lynchian scenes! His version of Spidey is the most charming on screen, although Cage himself trumps Andrew Garfield.

Noir Spider is Ben Reilly's tired, dramatic private eye.He was also bitten by a spider, but it looked a little different than we are used to - with notes of body horror.Reilly, like Parker, fumbles with power and responsibility, loves justice, but at the same time makes mistakes, acts rudely when necessary, drinks often and does not hesitate to fire a firearm on occasion. He's literally your typical noir sleuth, in the best sense, just with a web out of his hands.

And the whole series is like that - a stereotypical parody of noir with all the obligatory references and cliches like the femme fatale.Damn her!In many ways it is empty in terms of meaning, but it is talented at every step - and with mutant superheroes, whom, however, you will not envy. What times (the Great Depression) are “super”.A couple of days after watching the details of this story disappear from my mind, only Cage remains in the image of Reilly. But the path is extremely pleasant.

Spider Noir is available in two versions - monochrome and color.Of course, you need to watch both.In monochrome, the atmosphere is thicker and the CGI is almost not noticeable - ideal for the first visit and generally fresh. The color version seems strange at first - it is wildly contrasting and unnaturally “colorful”, as if imitating early Technicolor and the first attempts to colorize Metropolis. But that's the fun of it! #game
