Valve: Steam Machine will go on sale in the summer
Valve has published a news item regarding the Steam Machine verification program. The company is expanding its program, which now includes ratings for the upcoming device.
In the text, Valve notes that the Steam Machine will go on sale this summer. It will become a desktop PC running SteamOS, which will, among other things, allow you to play computer games in the living room. The Steam Machine is about six times more powerful than the Steam Deck, but uses the same software, including the Steam interface and Proton, a tool for launching games developed for Windows on SteamOS.
In a message to developers, the company notes that if a game runs well on the Steam Deck, then it will run well on the Steam Machine, without needing to do anything. But if the processor or video card of the Steam Deck is not enough, then the Steam Machine may well satisfy its requirements. In this case, authors also do not need to do anything, since Valve will independently check on the Steam Machine all games that had performance problems on the Steam Deck.
The cost and exact release date of the system are not reported.
