When they read another book after all
The Silicon Valley was filled with military companies named after the Lord of the Rings, whose founders misunderstood Tolkien's book.
> Palantir a company that helps strike at US enemies and monitor the nation's citizens is considered one of the main corporations of evil.
> Anduril is a startup of Oculus creator Palmer Lackey, which produces high-tech drones and AI-based defense systems. The name was borrowed from the Aragorn sword.
Erebor is a bank for startups related to the military sphere. It was also founded by Palmer Lackey and Peter Til.
> Sauron is a startup that uses military technology to create home security systems that recognize threats.
> Lembas, Valar and Rivendell investment funds and company of Peter Thiel, who also founded Palantir
At the same time, none of the founders of these companies are concerned that the Lord of the Rings is an antiwar book. Moreover, Peter Thiel and other technocrats obsessed with life extension and transhumanism want to become elves who don't die, even though Tolkien showed that fear of death is the way to the dark side.
The leaders of Palantir, Anduril and so on see in the Lord of the Rings not a book about the horrors of war, but a model of a white race with clear racial and class hierarchies.
