Bungie has postponed the release of new content for Marathon until December

With Marathon's audience falling to critical status, Bungie announced plans to revise the shooter's development.

Initially, the team had promised to release a large patch on September 22, but Bungie's management eventually decided to postpone its release to December 8 and include it in an update called Symbiosis.

Players will have access to the new Run, permanent PvE mode, and a reworked Perimeter map. The studio also intends to add social space with a tire, Team Deathmatch's experimental mode, and improvements to attract new users.

Bungie added that it basically abandoned the hard-chart roadmap when new content was added to the game as part of the seasons. Instead, the development team will release large updates with a floating schedule.

After the release of Symbiosis , the next big update will only come out in March 2027 (unless it 's postponed to a later date).

It's worth noting that the peak of Steam's online Marathon has already fallen below the 2.4 thousand mark, which has created problems with matchmaking, despite Sony's insistence that they have no intention of ending support for the game.

It is also worth noting that the decline in seasons in favor of regular updates has had a negative impact on the performance of Marathon competitor ARC Raiders.

The Escape from Tarkov shooter feels confident, whose performance on the platform in the last month has grown to 35 thousand (without taking into account the original launcher).
