In 23 years, the Call of Duty series has brought Activision over $40 billion in revenue.
This is reported by Xbox boss Ash Sharma, who is talking about the total revenue of the entire franchise since the release of the first installment in 2003, including the sale of games, microtransactions and other earnings.
To put that in perspective, Call of Duty has earned an average of $4.7 million a day for 23 years, with Black Ops 3 still the best-selling game of all time, with over 43 million copies sold.
For comparison, Modern Warfare, released in 2019, ranks second with over 41 million copies sold.
You can scold Activision's annual conveyor as much as you want, but with the financial results, it becomes clear why the publisher isn't going to stop it.
