Meta has been ordered to pay $25 billion for the fraud of Facebook users over privacy issues.
A New Mexico court found more than 43 million violations of consumer protection laws, including the Cambridge Analytica scandal in 2018, when 87 million Facebook users' data was made available to a third-party company.
Initially, the fine was estimated at $219.5 billion, but then reduced to $25 billion. At the same time, until full payment, 15% of the annual fee will be charged.
Meta disagrees with the court's decision and intends to appeal.
