Microsoft has promised to reduce RAM consumption in Windows 11 amid the fact that laptop manufacturers are releasing 8GB of RAM again, although a minimum of 16GB is recommended for comfortable OS operation.
The company acknowledged the problem and said it would make the system more economical. Windows will take up less memory immediately after launch, even before the apps are launched.
Now the problem remains serious. For example, a Dell XPS 13 laptop with 8GB of memory running Windows 11 uses about 70% of RAM right after the system is loaded. Even on a 32GB device, multiple Chrome tabs can take up about 40% of memory.
