Samson's unsuccessful release has sunk the studio of Just Cause's creator.
Liquid Swords, founded by Just Cause creator Christopher Sandberg, went bankrupt, and the Stockholm District Court ruled in favor of the company.
According to Breakit, nearly 30 employees of Liquid Swords have been unpaid for several months and will now be eligible to receive compensation under the Swedish state employee protection program.
A court-appointed specialist has begun looking for a buyer for Liquid Swords' business and assets. Without a new owner and funding, the team will not be able to function.
Liquid Swords was founded in 2020 and includes experienced professionals from DICE, Rockstar Games, Starbreeze and Avalanche Studios.
However, the studio needed additional funding. Soundberg was looking for a publisher for a long time, but negotiations did not lead to an agreement. So Liquid Swords decided to revise plans for their game with the remaining funds in mind and sharply scolded Samson's concept, which disastrously affected the final quality of the project.
