This award has been awarded since 1937 to those who have made outstanding contributions to culture, including Nobel laureates such as physicist Hideki Yukawa. Miyamoto has been in the industry for about 50 years, but he has admitted that it is uncomfortable for him to receive the Order of Culture: Games is not something I create alone.
