A remake of Final Fantasy IX, according to RPGSite, was planned to be released with a single full-length game covering the entire original story without splitting it into multiple parts, as in the case of Final Fantasy VII Remake.

The project has reportedly progressed quite far, but the development has now stalled.

They may return to the remake in the future, but Square Enix has not yet confirmed its existence. #game
