Gamers are furious to learn how Eurogamer is putting ratings on games.
Metacritic's future Phantom Blade Zero has 88 points, and OpenCritic has 91 points, all because of the Eurogamer edition, which only gave PBZ 60 points.
The thing is that Eurogamer uses a five-point system, and the games that the publication considers to be "good" but not "exceptional" are scored 3 out of 5, and those three points are converted into 60 points by Metacritic, after which the overall Metascore falls.
Specifically, PBZ praises the issue, but notes that in some cases, fights with bosses are not balanced. Quote: Game is exceptional in many areas animation, beautiful surroundings. And when the combat system works, the sense of flow is just incredible. But when you encounter bosses, all the force disappears, and there is a feeling that you are shooting with a wooden sword.
The fuel for the fire was that Eurogamer released Dragon Age: The Veilguard five, which Metacritic estimated converted to 100 points.
