Guillermo del Toro has confirmed that he was actually trying to launch the BioShock film, which has been rumored for years.

According to the director, the project was being discussed seriously, but ended after several extremely difficult negotiations.

One of Del Toro's phone conversations called it one of the most failed conversations of his life.

Del Toro explained that he generally considered adapting video games for film to be a difficult task, saying that even if the game looks cinematic, the principles of storytelling in the two formats differ greatly.

In the game, the player explores the world himself, solves problems and makes decisions, while the film must guide the viewer through a preconceived story.

After a failed BioShock experience, the director doesn't want to go back to the idea of such screenings.

In the same interview, Del Toro unexpectedly admitted that he plays Angry Birds almost every day.
