How does pricing work in the Terminal?
In all the public pages I see complaints and the death of the glove market, because the new ones are too cheap and beautiful, which means the old ones will go down in price, but apparently many do not understand one point:
From the very first day of adding the Terminal, the developers wrote down their logic: “Prices are global and adjust automatically based on demand for each item in that collection.”
This means that, in theory, along with a reduction in the price of the terminal, it will be opened much more, and the gloves inside it will become more expensive, since the price will react to a huge number of purchases.
But there is another theory. Some suggest that Valve is deliberately killing the high-tier market so that all expensive items are sold on the Marketplace and bring them profit in the form of commissions, for this they have done 2 things so far: 1) We introduced the crafting of especially rare items, reducing the price in some places by 2-3 times 2) Now they deliberately made gloves cheap in the terminal so that the rest of the market would slide to the bottom
And although there is logic in this, it’s hard to believe in killing the high-tier, because why change the consumption pattern of the players if everything is growing and working so well?Maybe tests on "Genesis" showed that it is many times more profitable than cases?🤔
