Marvel's massive Avengers crossovers worked precisely because Marvel was consciously going to Infinity War and the Final for ten years. The entire universe was gradually building around these films: Infinity Stones, Thanos and the inevitability of its invasion were laid long before the final clash.

So even a huge number of characters were able to unite in harmony without the feeling of chaos and overload.

But how are they going to deal with this scale in Dumfrey? We know almost nothing about the conflict itself or most of the key characters in the new saga. Many of them are still only superficially revealed, even Dumfrey himself will be shown to us for the first time in this film.

And now they're going to add the ex-X-Men, whose own franchise has, at one time or another, sunk into a storyline mess.

It's unclear how Marvel is going to turn this into a whole story instead of a three-hour cameo.
