Microsoft plans to significantly strengthen Xbox's position on PCs, including through the development of Battle net.

According to Xbox CEO Ash Sharma, Battle net user retention is now almost comparable to Steam, although Microsoft has barely developed the platform as a separate direction.

The company plans to: release more of its games on Battle net; add separate third-party projects to it; continue to support Steam and the Microsoft Store; promote the Xbox and Battle net more actively through PC and laptop manufacturers; simplify the Xbox ecosystem for developers.

Sharma also acknowledged that working with Xbox developers now is simply very difficult. Microsoft intends to simplify requirements, rework the Partner Center and API, make publishing and certification processes more automated, and reduce the number of manual approvals.

The company believes that different stores allow for different audiences, and considers Battle net as a separate prospective platform for Xbox growth on PCs. #game #Steam #PC
