Sony has decided to launch new mascots to engage with Nintendo, Sega and Sanrio characters Japanese media Nikkei reports
For this purpose, Sony's Creative Products division was set up to promote characters in games, anime, movies, and more.
Now the main contender for the role of the new mascot is a teddy bear, who suffers from insomnia because of everyday worries and anxieties.
By the 2030 fiscal year, Sony expects to generate about $70 million in revenue from such characters. A character in Japan is usually considered a hit if his net income is between 2 and 3 billion yen a year.
