The first impressions of Silent Hill: Townfall appeared. The author previewed the game for about three hours and remained impressed.

The action takes place in 1996 in the small Scottish port city of San Amelia, where the protagonist, Simon, returns to the scene with a mysterious voice and gradually encounters events from his own past.

Townfall uses a first-person view, cinematic black-band image format, ray tracing and Unreal Engine 5. The graphics don't look like a technological breakthrough, but the project's weak spots are successfully hidden behind fog, gray palette and strong sound design.

The main mechanics are related to the CRTV device, which allows you to search for hidden frequencies, find clues, solve puzzles and detect enemies even through walls.

In close combat, there are regular and powerful attacks, as well as a block. The weapon has limited strength, so the game encourages you to avoid battles. Later, revolvers, bottles to distract enemies and more dangerous creatures appear that can kill Simon instantly.

The author notes that the enemy's artificial intelligence still looks predictable, and some stealth mechanics are almost unnecessary due to the capabilities of CRTV. Townfall has managed to preserve the spirit of the classic Silent Hill by offering a more compact and straightforward adventure.

Silent Hill: Townfall will be released on September 24th on PlayStation 5 and PC. #game #PC
