I've been watching a strange drama in the Western media with a bit of confusion. It's true that almost no one reviewed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 for the Xbox, after which Microsoft promised to simplify the process of issuing review codes on the platform.
I've written about this before, but I'll say it again. I'm almost the only person in Russia and the post-Soviet countries who reviews Xbox versions of games. I've NEVER heard of this practice with console ID requests.
The problem has always been more mundane everyone doesn't care about the Xbox version. All editions usually ask for the PC and PS5.
As a result, the keys to the Xbox version are often either not offered at all or delayed, such as Aliens: Dark Descent, which was released on PC and PS5 a week before release, and the Xbox version.
But even with the previews, there's no ID whistling. Let's say I wrote a preview of an early Aphelion build from Don't Nod just gave out the key.
Yeah, there are additional limitations, but it's either like Skull and Bones (and other Ubisoft games) where the entire screen is watermarked, or like Dune: Awakening where you get a separate build that's not compatible with the release.
Well, that's a funny story.
