Jez Corden said that before the approval of the new Fallout game, Obsidian was working on another post-apocalyptic project.
According to his sources, the game was so similar in spirit to Fallout that XBOX Game Studios even discussed whether to develop it on Bethesda's Creation Engine instead of Unreal Engine.
Corden later clarified that this project was not officially part of the Fallout series. One of the reasons was Todd Howard's desire to personally participate in any joint project between Obsidian and Bethesda in this franchise.
However, this was not possible then, since Bethesda was busy with the Fallout series, the development of The Elder Scrolls 6 and support for Starfield.
As a result, the project remained an independent game, although, according to sources, it was very close to Fallout in atmosphere and concept. At the same time, Obsidian is well aware that fans have long been waiting for the studio to return to work on games in the Fallout universe.
