Blood, bowels and square men: Our first impressions of Gears of War: E-Day for the Xbox Series XS
Against the backdrop of the Halo game mess, the Gears of War series has evolved much more predictably and even boringly. The problem is that its best years have long since been over. Epic Games has moved from Microsoft's wing at the peak of popularity of the Xbox 360, releasing the remarkable Gears of War 3, while the blindingly blunt cooperative Judgment (undeservedly criticized) from People Can Fly has signaled the decline of the Xbox brand, whose executives were obsessed with Kinect.
After the Xbox One fiasco, the new management, led by Phil Spencer, began to drill holes at a rapid pace. Black Tusk Studios was tasked with reviving Gears of War, and to reinforce it, the honorary crisis manager of the entire western video game industry, Rod Ferguson. Under his leadership, the team, renamed The Coalition, took the safest path.
An attempt was made in Gears 5 to substantially update the formula, but it obviously didn't come to a logical conclusion. The segments of sailing sleds stretched the timeline much faster. I would even say that without them, the fifth part would only have been better.
In the wake of the confusion with the constantly changing strategy of the Xbox, the Gears series failed to justify its status as the flagship franchise. This title went to Forza Horizon 5 and Call of Duty.
In such a situation, the new leadership of The Coalition (which is already without Ferguson to save Blizzard) has decided to push for nostalgia. Gears of War: E-Day is the third in the series of stories about the blood, guts and suffering of square men.
The following is the layout. In the beta test, the developers offered the players to try out the cooperative mode Osasad Orda and the classic competitive mode Versus.
