IGN played for about eight hours at The Duskbloods and called the game one of the most complex and unusual projects from FromSoftware.
It is an exclusive Switch 2, designed for multiplayer only. The game involves 8 players, and the session itself lasts about 30 minutes and is divided into three phases. The players score goodwill, performing different tasks, fighting PvE enemies and other users. After each stage the worst participants are eliminated, and the three finalists are joined in a separate PvP battle.
From the details:
- there will be 10 characters with unique weapons and abilities at the start; - level, health, endurance, and build-up can be jumped right during the match; - there are pairs, long-range attacks, magic and NPC-companions; - there are dual-matches with a 2-2 final; - there is a vtorsion mode where the ninth player can connect to the match exclusively for PvP; - three cards are planned for release; - the move includes a fourth jump, aerial ripping and an endless sprint; - the game is aimed at 60 FPS, but in the current version, there are landings in major battles.
The combat system feels like Bloodborne and Elden Ring Nightreign, but due to its high mobility it is sometimes more like Devil May Cry.
Miyazaki also said that the rules and structure of The Duskbloods were heavily influenced by the RPG tabletop.
