In Marvel's Wolverine Logan was made a good guy, but that's not even the problem.

They say Logan's new Toothless game from Insomniac has been made soft and pleasant, the gamers are furious, where's the evil hairy man that everyone loves so much?

I read the first reviews, and yes, they really say that Rosomakh is patient, empathetic, good with children, apologizes constantly and generally a team player. Kotaku directly writes that his usual blind rage is hidden under some kind of a mental block.

But then there's the objection, and the first thing that I thought of saying was, "Come on, Wolverine rated M. Bloody, the violence, the mat, all the way up to everybody's favorite f-bomb".

In the '90s, Mortal Kombat went to the U.S. Senate for a screening, and they came up with standardized age ratings, and then the violence in the games was a statement. Now even the dismemberment, the background noise, is often just a joke. The M rating is not bravery, but a convenient plate that you can put into a trailer without risk.

Logan's rage in this hectic game is only in the fight, Logan is the beast in the fight, and in the bread scenes, there's no bridge between these two states.

Partly because Sony-AAA can no longer be just games, because that's what managers and dumb task forces used to do, and we've talked about it many times. Sony's exclusive must be a statement, it must be about something vital and important. And it's always something from a short list: responsibility, duty, fatherhood, mentorship -- good and eternal. God of War, Spider-Man, now Wolverine -- the themes flow from set to set without much change. And to talk about fatherhood and mentorship, you need a nice character, your guy.

But remember what happened with God of War, when Kratos turned into a boring bearded Brooklyn daddy, like us, and he lost all charisma and a lot of fans, and Saros was a mess.

But here's the trick: how does Marvel's Wolverine begin? we find Logan in the wildest state, he's being picked up by Nathaniel Essex, he's Mr. Sinister, then he's being rehabilitated, and then Logan becomes one of the founders of Team X.

This is the game that many people would like to play. Without a banal, twisted story, it's all about rage and trying to contain it. Logan and in comics are not always the beast: he and a school named Gene Grey were running, and he and Jubilee were messing around like daughters. But it's always an episode, not a basic condition.

Some people say, wait, the block is going to be taken down to the end, where it's probably going to go back to where it's supposed to go. Maybe it's going to be taken down. Maybe the real Logan is going to be put into a sequel. Maybe there's not going to be a sequel. #game #Marvel
