2002's The Thing: a shooter you couldn't trust even your own team
🔴From Evolva to Antarctica
The Thing's story began not with a film license, but with studio self-help. In 2000, Computer Artworks released the action Evolva, and when Universal was looking for a partner to play the Carpenter film, the developers decided to show what they were capable of. For the pitch, they took one of the levels of Evolva, painted it under the Antarctic base and added a creature similar to Something to the final. Universal liked the idea, and in January 2001 the studio officially took on a project to focus the film not only on the original, but also on "Foreigners", the classic version of 1956's "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" and Half-Life.
