Game director of the original The Last of Us, Bruce Streeley, asked his subscribers why they were waiting for GTA VI. He said it was not an attempt to provoke controversy, but an ordinary curiosity.

The game designer admitted that he wasn't yet sure if he wanted to play the next installment of the cult series, and asked what new features people hoped to see and what made GTA VI so much to be expected.

The discussion quickly gained popularity, with users citing dynamic weather, surfing, and nonlinear missions with multiple ways to navigate, but Streeley was particularly supportive of the idea of more free-to-play gameplay.

He noted that Red Dead Redemption 2 looked great, but the game mechanics didn't look deep enough for him, and that the open world should offer not only the freedom to explore, but also the freedom to choose the way to go, rather than just follow a given route.

Streeley worked at Naughty Dog from 1999 to 2017, after which he founded the studio Wildflower Interactive, and now he and the team are developing the Coven of the Chicken Foot adventure in the spirit of The Last Guardian and an anime from Studio Ghibli.
