I don’t know about you, but I really loved the game Wing Commander as a child. And it seemed to be ideal right

I don’t know about you, but I really loved the game Wing Commander as a child. And it seemed to be ideal right away, I never wanted a space game about super realistic physics, about a huge universe in which you can do whatever you want (“what you want” usually in such games means mining ore from asteroids for 80 hours or transporting a load of scrap metal from end to end of the galaxy).I especially didn’t want a game about building your own base and scanning purple fucksaurs.

I wanted it to be like in Star Wars, a flight against the Death Star, pew pew, wzzzzhzh, BANG, we return to the base and in the bar with the boys we argue about which of us is the best ace and who shot down more enemy fighters. And Wing Commander was EXACTLY about this.

Why am I saying this?Yes, it’s as if Wing Commander didn’t leave behind worthy heirs, all the cosmos either went into the endless universes with ore trading, or into survivalism with the construction of a hut from purple eblosaurs, or did not go out at all.

But here, imagine, a person made a game inspired by Wing Commander, and not just a clone, but also with his own ideas.

Max Savage looks and plays exactly like the first Wing Commander, with some nuances.Firstly, despite the fact that the game is linear and plot-driven, the main character is not a career military man, but a mercenary.Which means that between story missions you can complete enough sides to earn money, prestige, upgrade your star fighter, etc.etc.

The second point is that in addition to space battles, there is the opportunity to land on any planet at any time (of which there are several) and the game turns into a simple Zeldoid with a top-down view. The heroine walks on the surface of the planet, hits with a sword, throws grenades and completes small quests.

In general, this is an almost perfect, in my opinion, work with a nostalgic theme. On the one hand, the spirit and gameplay are recreated one after another, on the other hand, there are the right point innovations that make Max Savage an independent game.

Cool, in a word.Let's somehow support the dude, he has 5 reviews on steam, lol.

P.S.What’s especially nice is that we at Kota mentioned this game in the “Killer Wishlist” podcast series, where we notice all sorts of interesting things that are in development. And here is one of the first harvests, so to speak. #game #Steam
