In an interview, Sony CEO Hiroki Totoki spoke about the company's current transformation and its future strategy.

He said that Sony is increasingly moving from an electronics manufacturer to an entertainment company, with more than 67 percent of its revenue already coming from the three key entertainment sectors, and investment in games, movies, music and anime will continue to grow.

Totoki has separately noted the connection between PlayStation and Crunchyroll. Sony believes that games and anime have a very close audience, so the company sees opportunities for jointly developing content, services and attracting new users.

The head of Sony also confirmed that the company intends to use gaming IPs more actively in movies and series. The success of The Last of Us has shown that the screenings not only expand the franchise's audience, but are also able to bring new users back to the original games.

Talking about theaters, Totoki acknowledged that people were less likely to attend each new film, but large films were still able to attract viewers because of the desire to get a shared theatrical experience.

Sony is already considering AI as a tool for automating labor-intensive processes As an example, the animation of hair in games was mentioned.

As for the PlayStation, Toky stated that the PS5 is already in the second half of its life cycle, so Sony doesn't need to aggressively increase sales of the console itself now.

According to him, the PlayStation ecosystem has more than 125 million monthly active users, and one of Sony's most important tasks is to further monetize this huge user base.

Totoki also recalled that Sony's turn to the current model began after serious hardware business problems in the late 2000s. The arrival of the iPhone in 2007 hit Sony's traditional electronics hard, and the global financial crisis further worsened the situation and forced the company to change strategy.

At the end of the interview, the head of Sony said that he was most interested in creating new forms of entertainment experience using the technologies that the company has. #game #Strategy
