Bloomberg has revealed the details of Sony's split with the mediocre designer over Physint.

According to Jason Schreyer, PlayStation declined to fund the project due to budget cuts, deadlines, doubts about profitability and the issue of exclusivity.

One of the reasons was the results of Death Stranding and Death Stranding 2 , both games, according to Bloomberg sources, did not live up to PlayStation's revenue expectations.

At the same time, Physint's development was already behind schedule, and the project's budget could well exceed the original plans, although years remained before release.

Sony also didn't want to invest hundreds of millions of dollars in the game, which ultimately won't remain a permanent PlayStation exclusive.

Both Death Stranding were temporary exclusive, and Kojima Productions retained the franchise rights.

In the summer, the studio received an unexpected announcement that it was shutting down its funding, and Kojima Productions spent about three months looking for a new partner, eventually becoming Microsoft.

Xbox plans to release Physint on Xbox and PC. This is especially important for Microsoft because of the PC audience, where Death Stranding has already brought in additional revenue.

The Microsoft-Kojima Productions deal also includes the rights to Physint and OD screenings.

We believe in his team's ability to create AAA games and new IPs.

Bloomberg also notes that the breakup seems particularly significant in light of the middleman's long-standing relationship with PlayStation, which began back in the days of the first Metal Gear Solid. #game #PC
